Each backend switch has about 50 ports and costs about $50,000 Each switch has another 18 smaller switches attached to it each switch will cost about $2000 giving a total of $36000 The number of PCs attached to each of the 4 switches is in total 414 dual processor units cost per unit is $3000 making a total of $1,242,000 Total cost for each of the 4 subsystems based around the 4 switches = $1,330, 000 Total cost of 4 switches and associated PCs = $5.3M Observations... Networking has small effect on total cost. Could be changed to all GE? Can change from 4 to 8 central switches or more without impact.
